Teacher

We are seeking classroom teachers for our Middle School class at our Novato campus for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This position is part-time: 30 Saturdays, 9:30-noon between September and May.

The Middle School Class is designed for youth in grades 6-8, generally a mixture of foreign language learners and German heritage speakers, with intermediate (or higher) knowledge of German. The class is taught entirely in German. The teacher helps students expand all four language skills, reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and also prepares them to take a language exam on level A2 (of CEFR). The culture of the German speaking countries is an integral part of the curriculum.

Job requirements:

  • Experience in classroom instruction and/ or leadership
  • Native-like fluency in German (both written and spoken) and solid knowledge of the culture of German-speaking countries
  • Motivation to work in the unique setting of a once-per-week language school (small groups of learners, but possibly with divergent skill levels within a group, sometimes a mix of foreign language learners and heritage learners)
  • Ability to work independently and as member of a team
  • Teaching experience a plus
  • Authorization to work in the US

Please note: A teaching certification (either German or US) is not required for this position. Pay range starts at $33/hour.

We are always in need of substitute teachers for both our Novato and Santa Rosa campuses.
